BAHAWALPUR RULER DONATES RS. FIVE LAKHS

OVER ONE LAKH MOHAJRIN ABSORBED IN THE STATE

PAKISTAN TIMES OCTOBER 04, 1947 - QUAID-E-AZAM'S RELIEF FUND.

KARACHI, OCT 02.

In response to the appeal of the Quaid-e-Azam, Ala Hazrat Jalalat-ul-Mulk, the Aamir of Bahawalpur, has donated a sum of Rupees 500,000 to the Quaid-e-Azam relief fund stated a press note issued from the Government House Karachi, tonight.

The press note added in the course of a letter to the Quaid-e-Azam, enclosing two cheques of rupees 2,50,000 each. Nawab Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani, Prime Minister of Bahawalpur writes: "As your Excellency is perhaps aware, we have already settled 70,000 Mohajrin from east Punjab. Bikaner and Punjab States on land within the State and provided them accomodation, agriculture implements and necessary food supplies. Another 15,000 Mohajrin have alloted houses and shops.

In addition many thousands have found shelter with friends and relatives and will be absorbed as farm hands and factory workers. The total number of Mohajrin who have been settled within Bahawalpur State is one Lakh.
